Schreiner University offers courses leading to a Bachelor of Arts
(B.A.) degree and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a major
in Chemistry.
To enhance the laboratory experience, we have two new chemistry labs
in a brand new building with state of the art equipment as well as
an instrument lab. The instrument lab is well furnished with two UV-Vis
spectrometers, a fluorometer, an IR spectrometer, a gas chromatagraph,
and an HPLC (liquid chromatograph) among the major pieces of equipment. Some
students conduct research with faculty members under the auspices
of the Welch Grant for chemical research. Many of our students hold
academic scholarships. A student
with a B.A. degree in chemistry with additional work in biology
will meet all the requirements for medical, dental, veterinary and
pharmacy schools. A student
with a B.S. or B.A. degree in chemistry will also be highly employable
in industry. Those students wishing to pursue graduate studies in
chemistry are encouraged to follow the B.S. degree plan. |
