Schreiner
University offers courses leading to the
Bachelor of Arts
degree with a major in English. The English program supports the
tenets of liberal arts education expressed in the philosophy of
the University.
English courses prepare students for careers in foreign and public
service, law, the ministry, communications, teaching, and research.
Both the major and minor prepare students for related graduate studies.
In
lower division courses, students focus on reading, writing, research,
and other language competencies. Sophomore level literature courses
introduce students to a wide range of literature from ancient to
modern periods. In
upper division surveys and seminars, students examine national literatures,
periods, and genres in depth. Students refine their research and
writing skills as they prepare to construct and present a senior
project. |
