Symphony of the Hills, timpanist

 


While a student at Eastman, Mr. Gilbert led the percussion section of the Eastman Philharmonia Symphony Orchestra under Dr. Howard Hanson and performed in Carnegie Hall as a member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble directed by Dr. Frederick Fennell. He traveled the world working for the State Department, seeing Europe, the Middle East, and the Soviet Union. Mr. Gilbert has at least eight compositions published and many scholarly articles about percussion.
