BRIEF BIO
Dr. David Byrne has been at Schreiner since 1987, and previously
taught in Corpus Christi, and at schools in Ohio and New York. His
son, Matthew, just graduated from college in 2007, and “grew up” in
Schreiner campus housing from ages 3 to 9. Dr. Byrne concentrated
his graduate studies in the areas of social/personality and
developmental psychology. He has written or co-written scholarly
articles about social reinforcement of children, learned
helplessness and success-failure, the effectiveness of juvenile
probation treatment, and the treatment of attention –deficit
disorder. Currently, he is working on a project to investigate
whether a positive sense of humor is related to workplace
advancement.

BRIEF BIO
Dr. Gary Biel is a lifelong musician with an interest in studying
the effect of music on various aspects of human behavior including
memory, emotion, motivation, and physical and cognitive performance.

BRIEF BIO
Before coming to Schreiner University in 1992, Dr. Gallik was
Director of the Hill Country Community Needs Council, a social
service agency in Fredericksburg, Texas. She also taught psychology
part-time for Howard County Community College. Her hobbies include
home improvement projects, reading, gardening, sharing lengthy
articles with her colleagues in the Psychology department, hiking
and billiards.
