A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF DR. JUDE GALLIK
Dr. Gallik, the older girl of five children, was born in Rochester, New York, sometime before 1965. She attended high school in Ohio, then received an Associate in Arts degree from the local community college before transferring to Lake Erie College, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. She graduated summa cum laude with a major in psychology and a minor in sociology and was recognized as the outstanding student in psychology. The day after graduating college, she immediately headed for the sunnier climate of northern Arizona, where she lived in Flagstaff and Grand Canyon. Hiking the Grand Canyon three times is among her proudest accomplishments.  Seeking new experiences, Dr. Gallik moved to Texas, enjoying the beach at Port Aransas before settling in Fredericksburg, where she worked for a social service agency while pursuing a Master’s Degree in Counseling at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Soon after completing her Master’s degree, she joined Schreiner University in the Learning Support Services program.

Dr. Gallik received a doctorate in Educational Psychology and Language and Literacy Studies from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Director of the Learning Support Services Program at Schreiner University where she teaches in the Education and Psychology departments, a well as teaching Freshman Seminar.

Dr. Gallik lives on 14 acres in Harper, Texas in a farmhouse built in 1931. Most of her free time is spent on home improvement projects. Other pursuits include yoga, hiking, needlework, reading, and taking naps. Favorite authors include Herman Hesse, Edward Abbey, and Pat Conroy. Dr. Gallik has a lifelong interest in Zen Buddhism and Taoism, and a more recent interest in Quakerism.
