FACULTY POSITIONS: 




Assistant Professor of Marketing (Full-Time)

The Department of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position in Marketing, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning Fall 2018.  Teaching responsibilities include a teaching load of four courses per semester, with occasional need for overload.  This position will include responsibility for student advising, continuing scholarship, and service to the University community. A strong commitment to teaching excellence, innovative teaching methodology, growth of the Marketing program, student/faculty/community collaboration, and professional growth is expected.  This position will include role of Program Coordinator and require the continued development of the Professional Internship initiative.

This is a full-time, tenure-track, benefits-eligible position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  Offer is contingent upon final budget approval.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ph.D. in Marketing or Doctorate in a relevant discipline with a Marketing emphasis.
  • Experience teaching at the college level combined with a track record of teaching excellence, as evidenced by student evaluations and classroom observations is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the public or private sector in a marketing role is preferred.

Assistant Professor of Communications Studies (Full-Time)
The Department of Social Sciences at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Communication Studies. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position available August 2018. The successful candidate should be able to teach a wide range of communication studies courses, which may include introductory speech classes, communication theory, intercultural communication, nonverbal communication, communication and new media, mass communication, strategic communication, persuasion, communication and conflict, among others.  Preference will be given to candidates with strong background/experience in mass communication, public relations, broadcast journalism. Additionally, successful candidates must be enthusiastic about advancing the prominence of the program, increasing overall number of declared COMM majors, and working closely with those majors to further undergraduate research opportunities, including travel with students to undergraduate scholarly conferences. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in departmental duties, campus activities, and engage in scholarship and/or creative activities aligned with institutional goals. Teaching load is 12 hours per semester. Offer is contingent upon final budget approval.

 Qualifications: An earned doctorate (preferred) in communication studies, ABD with completion no later than August 2018, or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.  Teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred. Position is open until filled.


Assistant Professor of Spanish Heritage Language Pedagogy (Full-time)
Schreiner University’s School of Liberal Arts invites applications for a new Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in Spanish Heritage Language Pedagogy to begin August 2018. This faculty member will build programming for heritage language learners (HLLs) specifically, but should also possess qualifications and interest in delivering coursework for second language learners (L2Ls) and in contributing to the overall success and growth of SU’s program in Spanish & Latin American Studies. Schreiner is a teaching institution at which faculty’s effectiveness in the classroom is a top priority. Responsibilities include a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester (to include introductory, intermediate, and advanced content courses for both L2Ls and HLLs) and active involvement in various university service initiatives and campus life. This faculty appointment specifically will be expected to be an enthusiastic contributor to projects that relate to Schreiner’s mission as a Hispanic Serving Institution.  This position may be converted to tenure-track in the future.

Academic preparation in effective teaching methodologies for L2 learners and HLLs is essential. Successful candidates will also demonstrate experience and interest in two or more of the following areas: curriculum design for L2 and HLL coursework, differentiated instruction, language program coordination, placement/proficiency examinations, coursework in Spanish for the professions, provision of instructor education for adjunct and other faculty, online/distance teaching, bilingualism and/or bilingual education, translation studies, service learning and community engagement, experience working with first generation college students.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Spanish, Applied Linguistics or related field preferreed.


 

Dean Sciences and Mathematics (Full-Time)

The School of Sciences and Mathematics at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Dean of the school. This is a tenure-track faculty position available June 2018. The academic dean is responsible for preparing and revising academic program plans for the school or college, while promoting and serving as a model for teaching achievement and professional service. The academic dean also develops strategies to achieve educational goals and objectives. He or she oversees academic integrity and quality education in the college or university by clearly articulating university policy and procedure to members of the school. He or she sets and establishes academic goals for the department to achieve while maintaining high standards in academics and teaching processes.  The academic dean helps to provide training to the faculty so they can maintain teaching excellence and conduct scholarly research and creative activity in academic initiatives. The dean is also responsible for maintaining effective communication between students and faculty within the school and with other academic personnel. The dean also acts as a liaison between the students and the administration and between the faculty and the administration. An academic dean makes recommendations concerning the hiring of new faculty members with input from faculty search committees, while also evaluating college administrators and staff, as well as takes part in fundraising, budgeting, and setting academic rules and policies as outlined by the faculty manual.

 The candidate must be able to teach one class each semester in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, exercise science, mathematics, nursing or sport management.  

 Qualifications: Terminal degree in an appropriate field, or equivalent.

ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITIONS:


 

Adjunct Nursing Instructor                                                                                                                      The Department of Nursing at Schreiner University invites applications for non-tenure track positions at the rank of Adjunct Nursing Instructor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.  Teaching and/or Clinical Instruction responsibilities are focused in the areas of Adult Critical or Acute Care Experience, Professional Concepts in Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Nursing Leadership and Management, Maternal Childbirth Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Financial Management and Nursing. Additional courses are dependent on the expertise of the person hired and the needs of the program.  Responsibilities could include instruction in didactic coursework, supervision of students in the clinical setting and in the Clinical Education Center (learning lab).

MSN and an unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.  Preference will be given to candidates who have a commitment to nurturing students in a small student-centered undergraduate program.  Ability to work closely and cohesively with colleagues is critical.


 

Online Adjunct Instructor of Management Science  (Graduate Instructor Business MBA Graduate Program)                                                                                                                                  The Department of Business & Technology in the Kathleen C. Cailloux School of Professional Studies, Schreiner University, Kerrville, Texas, invites applications for an adjunct graduate level online MBA teaching opportunity in Management Science or related discipline.

Qualifications - Required:                                                                                                                     Ph.D. in Management Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.    Applicants should have a strong commitment to and be capable of teaching courses in the following areas: Management Statistics or Business Statistics for Decision-Making.

Qualifications - Preferred:                                                                                                                           PhD in Management Science.                                                                                                                   Postsecondary online teaching experience and/or business and industry experience.        Experience leading creative activities for students.

Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                     Applicants should have a strong commitment to graduate teaching. Duties currently include teaching an annual online course in Statistics for Management in the online MBA program. Holding a Skype for Business class session one evening per week for the seven weeks of the term. Assessing student performance and reporting grades to the Registrar. Current program is new and growing, so additional class sections are anticipated.
