FACULTY POSITIONS:


 

Assistant Professor of Education (Full-Time)

The Professions in Education Teacher Education Program at Schreiner University is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Education. 

This a nine month, tenure track position. Position to start Fall 2018.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with Certification process and Compliance Reports and Procedures.

Undergraduate teaching and some online graduate teaching in an MED or principal program.

Teach introductory and education methodology courses; 4/4 teaching load.

Teach Service Learning courses developed to provide student experience in schools.

Participate in developing education curricula.

Serve as an advisor to education majors.

Participate in university-public school partnership committees.

Engage in scholarly activity leading to grants, presentations, and publications.

Participate in service to the department, college, and university.

Supervise field experiences and clinical teachers.

The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

Earned doctorate in Education, ABD will be considered.

Full-time teaching experience in EC-12 school classrooms.

Successful undergraduate university teaching experiences.

Experience teaching a wide range of education courses for Teacher Certification.

Experience in teaching reading and content methodology.

Familiar with certification procedures and policies.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

Principal Certification preferred.

Specialization in Reading.

Curriculum and Instruction and/or School Leadership or Improvement at the doctoral level.

Experience with integrating instructional technologies in teaching, including implementing online courses.

Experience in supervising clinical teachers.

Knowledge of state accreditation standards and procedures.

Successful involvement with university-public school partnerships.

Evidence of scholarly potential, including presentations and/or publications.


 Assistant Professor in Nursing (Full-Time)
The Trull School of Science and Mathematics Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is seeking applications for two open positions of Assistant Professor of Nursing.  This position provides academic and clinical instruction within the Department of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and clinical experiences for students. Participates in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to the Instructor ran. Reports to the Director of Nursing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • MSN required, teaching experience preferred.
  • Unencumbered license to practice professional nursing in Texas or another interstate compact state.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Records demonstrating up to date immunization or titers.
  • Clinical experience required. Needs effective organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Maintains academic standards as established by the Department of Nursing and the University.
  • Teaches students in clinical, laboratory and classroom settings, using prescheduled course of study and instructional material.
  • Assumes responsibility for the planning and organization and deployment of courses to which assigned.
  • Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in clinical, classroom and laboratory teaching.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of program, course, and student activities directed at student attainment and of course objectives.
  • Develops and evaluates exams for courses to which assigned.
  • Participates in program and university committees and in other activities associated with professional status.
  • Maintains working knowledge of technology required to perform work.
  • Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students.
  • Responds to emails on a daily basis throughout the work week.
  • Assesses own learning needs and plans professional development activities to meet those needs.
  • Maintains membership in and participates in activities of professional associations.
  • Participates in graduation and pinning ceremonies.
  • Represents department and school as requested at various activities inside or outside of the University.
  • Faculty who also teach clinical are also responsible for fulfilling the Clinical Instructor job description.

ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITIONS:


 Adjunct Instructor Visual Arts
Teaching Online Intro Visual Arts (Art 1340. online).

This course offers a diverse investigation of art and culture from the historical and contemporary perspectives. It is a discussion of the contributions of the arts to the understanding of aesthetics, observation of historic styles, traditional and contemporary techniques, and the influence of cultural media. This is an introductory art class recommended to fulfill the core fine arts requirement for non-art majors.
Applicant should have an MFA and/or equivalent terminal degree in Art.
Applicant should be proficient in computer navigation, procedures and the online teaching format, and have above average communication skills related to online teaching.
Applicant's knowledge should be based in visual art, and art appreciation, and should have evidence of high engagement in visual art.


Adjunct Nursing Instructor                                                                                                                      The Department of Nursing at Schreiner University invites applications for non-tenure track positions at the rank of Adjunct Nursing Instructor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.  Teaching and/or Clinical Instruction responsibilities are focused in the areas of Professional Concepts in Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Nursing Leadership and Management, Maternal Childbirth Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Financial Management and Nursing. Additional courses are dependent on the expertise of the person hired and the needs of the program.  Responsibilities could include instruction in didactic coursework, supervision of students in the clinical setting and in the Clinical Education Center (learning lab).

MSN and an unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.  Preference will be given to candidates who have a commitment to nurturing students in a small student-centered undergraduate program.  Ability to work closely and cohesively with colleagues is critical.


Adjunct Instructor Communications                                                                                                     The Department of Social Sciences at Schreiner University seeks qualified part-time adjuncts to teach sections of communications beginning Fall 2017. Must have minimum 18 graduate hours in communication studies or related discipline.


Online Adjunct Instructor of Management Science  (Graduate Instructor Business MBA Graduate Program)                                                                                                                                  The Department of Business & Technology in the Kathleen C. Cailloux School of Professional Studies, Schreiner University, Kerrville, Texas, invites applications for an adjunct graduate level online MBA teaching opportunity in Management Science or related discipline.

Qualifications - Required:                                                                                                                     Ph.D. in Management Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.    Applicants should have a strong commitment to and be capable of teaching courses in the following areas: Management Statistics or Business Statistics for Decision-Making.

Qualifications - Preferred:                                                                                                                           PhD in Management Science.                                                                                                                   Postsecondary online teaching experience and/or business and industry experience.        Experience leading creative activities for students.

Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                     Applicants should have a strong commitment to graduate teaching. Duties currently include teaching an annual online course in Statistics for Management in the online MBA program. Holding a Skype for Business class session one evening per week for the seven weeks of the term. Assessing student performance and reporting grades to the Registrar. Current program is new and growing, so additional class sections are anticipated.


Adjunct Chemistry Instructor
The Trull School of Sciences and Mathematics at Schreiner University invites applications for a non-tenure track position (part-time) at the rank of Chemistry Instructor beginning August 2017.  Teaching responsibilities for this position will be freshman level General Chemistry (CHEM 1301/1101 and/or CHEM 1302/1102) and non-majors Chemistry (CHEM 1303/1103). Additional courses are dependent on the expertise of the person hired and the needs of the program.  Qualified candidates should have at least Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
