Dean of the Robert B. Trull School of Sciences and Mathematics
The School of Sciences and Mathematics at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Dean of the school. This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2017. The academic dean is responsible for preparing and revising academic program plans for the school or college, while promoting and serving as a model for teaching achievement and professional service. The academic dean also develops strategies to achieve educational goals and objectives. He or she oversees academic integrity and quality education in the college or university by clearly articulating university policy and procedure to members of the school. He or she sets and establishes academic goals for the department to achieve while maintaining high standards in academics and teaching processes. The academic dean helps to provide training to the faculty so they can maintain teaching excellence and conduct scholarly research and creative activity in academic initiatives. The dean is also responsible for maintaining effective communication between students and faculty within the school and with other academic personnel. The dean also acts as a liaison between the students and the administration and between the faculty and the administration. An academic dean makes recommendations concerning the hiring of new faculty members with input from faculty search committees, while also evaluating college administrators and staff, as well as takes part in fundraising, budgeting, and setting academic rules and policies as outlined by the faculty manual.
The candidate must be able to teach one class each semester in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, exercise science, mathematics, nursing or sport management.
Qualifications: Terminal degree in an appropriate field, or equivalent.

Assistant Professor of Communication Studies (Full Time)
The Department of Social Sciences at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Communication Studies. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position available August 2017. The successful candidate should be able to teach a wide range of communication studies courses, which may include introductory speech classes, communication theory, interpersonal, intercultural, nonverbal, new media technology, communication and gender, persuasion, research methods, communication and conflict, organization communication, among others. Preference will be given to candidates with strong background/experience in public relations, broadcast journalism, and/or sports communication. Additionally, successful candidates must be enthusiastic about advancing the prominence of the program, increasing overall number of declared COMM majors, and working closely with those majors to further undergraduate research opportunities, including travel with students to undergraduate scholarly conferences. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in departmental duties, campus activities, and engage in scholarship and/or creative activities aligned with institutional goals. Teaching load is 12 hours per semester.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate (preferred) in communication studies, ABD with completion no later than August 2017, or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline. Teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred. Position is open until filled.
Assistant Professor in Nursing (Full-Time)
The Trull School of Science and Mathematics Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is seeking applications for two open positions of Assistant Professor of Nursing. This position provides academic and clinical instruction within the Department of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and clinical experiences for students. Participates in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to the Instructor ran. Reports to the Director of Nursing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
- MSN required, teaching experience preferred.
- Unencumbered license to practice professional nursing in Texas or another interstate compact state.
- Current BLS certification.
- Records demonstrating up to date immunization or titers.
- Clinical experience required. Needs effective organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintains academic standards as established by the Department of Nursing and the University.
- Teaches students in clinical, laboratory and classroom settings, using prescheduled course of study and instructional material.
- Assumes responsibility for the planning and organization and deployment of courses to which assigned.
- Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in clinical, classroom and laboratory teaching.
- Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of program, course, and student activities directed at student attainment and of course objectives.
- Develops and evaluates exams for courses to which assigned.
- Participates in program and university committees and in other activities associated with professional status.
- Maintains working knowledge of technology required to perform work.
- Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students.
- Responds to emails on a daily basis throughout the work week.
- Assesses own learning needs and plans professional development activities to meet those needs.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry (Full-time and Temporary)

ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITIONS:
English (Composition Studies)
The Department of English & World Languages at Schreiner University seeks qualified and dedicated adjuncts to teach sections of freshman composition (ENGL 1301 Rhetoric and Composition and ENGL 1302 Literature and Composition) beginning Fall 2017. The successful candidate will have an MA or MFA in English, PhD in English preferred, or at least eighteen graduate hours in English, plus some college teaching experience of freshmen composition courses. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of current writing theory and practice.
Online Adjunct Instructor of Management Science (Graduate Instructor Business MBA Graduate Program) The Department of Business & Technology in the Kathleen C. Cailloux School of Professional Studies, Schreiner University, Kerrville, Texas, invites applications for an adjunct graduate level online MBA teaching opportunity in Management Science or related discipline.
Qualifications - Required: Ph.D. in Management Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. Applicants should have a strong commitment to and be capable of teaching courses in the following areas: Management Statistics or Business Statistics for Decision-Making.
Qualifications - Preferred: PhD in Management Science. Postsecondary online teaching experience and/or business and industry experience. Experience leading creative activities for students.
Responsibilities: Applicants should have a strong commitment to graduate teaching. Duties currently include teaching an annual online course in Statistics for Management in the online MBA program. Holding a Skype for Business class session one evening per week for the seven weeks of the term. Assessing student performance and reporting grades to the Registrar. Current program is new and growing, so additional class sections are anticipated.

This is a part-time semester-to-semester contract (15 credit hours per year maximum), non-tenure-track position available Fall 2017.

Adjunct Chemistry Instructor
The Trull School of Sciences and Mathematics at Schreiner University invites applications for a non-tenure track position (part-time) at the rank of Chemistry Instructor beginning August 2017. Teaching responsibilities for this position will be freshman level General Chemistry (CHEM 1301/1101 and/or CHEM 1302/1102) and non-majors Chemistry (CHEM 1303/1103). Additional courses are dependent on the expertise of the person hired and the needs of the program. Qualified candidates should have at least Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
Adjunct Instructor Mathematics
Duties include teaching lower-level coursework such as Developmental Mathematics, College Algebra, Finite Mathematics, Applied Statistics, or Pre-Calculus. Preference will be given to applicants with a master’s degree in mathematics, but degrees in mathematics education or statistics will be considered.
Adjunct Lab Instructor Physics
Duties include physics lab setup, supervising students during labs, and student lab report evaluation. Preference will be given to the applicant with a master’s or bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering, but degrees in science or math where the coursework included undergraduate credit in Physics I and II will be considered.
Adjunct Instructor of Spanish The Department of English & World Languages at Schreiner University seeks to hire one non-tenure-track (part-time) faculty member to teach basic Spanish language courses for their new interdisciplinary program in Spanish & Latin American Studies. The successful applicant should demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the language classroom.
