FACULTY POSITIONS:


Program Developer/Director of Nursing

This full time, tenure-track faculty position is a 12 month appointment that requires a minimum of a registered nurse who holds a doctorate in nursing or doctorate degree in another discipline and a master’s degree in nursing. Eligible to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas. A minimum of three years teaching experience in a professional nursing program including demonstration of the knowledge, skills, and abilities in administration is required.

As Program Developer, he /she will

  • Supervise the development, implementation, and evaluation of a traditional and online RN-BSN curriculum for a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.  These processes involve the inclusion of nursing standards established by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Establish and oversee the application process for students.
  • Recruit faculty and students into the program.
  • Make budget recommendations related to faculty development and employment needs as well as program resources.
  • Seek external funds to support purchases for the nursing laboratory and other program needs as necessary.
  • Coordinate with local and regional health care facilities as practice partners.
  • Familiarize self with University mission, values, policies, and procedures.

As Director of Nursing he/she will be responsible to

  • Implement the instructional, educational, and professional objectives of the BSN program.
  • Work directly with department chairpersons, faculty, staff, and students to develop quality teaching, professional learning experiences, and public service programs.
  • Continue review, improvement, and development of the undergraduate nursing program.
  • Mentor tenure track, non-tenure track, and adjunct faculty.

The Director is responsible for compliance and communication with the accreditation standards of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Texas State Board of Nursing.  The Director represents the Division and is actively involved with nursing and other health care organizations in the state, region, and nation.

Although this position is initially an administrative one, teaching is the University’s primary mission, and this position is expected to assume quarter-time (3 credit hours) teaching responsibilities, Scholarly activity, student advising, and service to the University and community are also expected.


Assistant Professor of Exercise Science and Sport Management

The Exercise Science and Sport Management Department at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Exercise Science and Sport Management. This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2016. The candidate must be able to teach various courses within the Exercise Science curriculum including, but not limited to, introductory level courses for exercise science majors and non-majors, and upper-level Exercise Science courses.  Teaching in the department’s Sport Management curriculum also is expected.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in departmental duties, committee service, campus activities, and engage in scholarship and/or creative activities aligned with institutional goals. Teaching load is 12 hours per semester.

Qualifications: Position requires a minimum of a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline, an earned doctorate, or ABD with completion no later than August 2016 for tenure track. 

Teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred. Additional certifications from the NSCA and/or the ACSM are also preferred.


Assistant Professor of History (Full time)

The Department of History at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of History. This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2016.  Candidates should be prepared to teach both American and world civilization surveys and should have a specialization in European history in order to offer upper division courses in European history.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, participation in curricular development, and senior thesis reviews. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in departmental duties, committee service, campus activities, and engage in scholarship and/or creative activities aligned with institutional goals. Teaching load is 12 hours per semester. 

Qualifications: An earned doctorate (preferred) in History, ABD with completion no later than August 2016, or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.  Teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

Assistant Professor of Psychology (Full time)

The Department of Psychology at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Psychology. This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2016. The successful candidate will possess a specialty in clinical/counseling psychology and a broad generalist background.  In addition to Introductory Psychology and a Senior Capstone courses, the successful candidate will teach Personality Theories and Applications, the Psychology of Motivation, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology courses, and Human Sexuality.  The successful candidate also will contribute to the establishment of an undergraduate Internship program.  The successful applicant should have a history of undergraduate research supervision as well as an active research program of his or her own.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, participation in curricular development, and senior thesis reviews. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in departmental duties, committee service, campus activities, and engage in scholarship and/or creative activities aligned with institutional goals.  Assistant Professor Biology (Full time)

The Department of Sciences at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology. This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2016. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all levels of biology courses, including general biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology.  Candidates also are expected to offer undergraduate research opportunities in either the environment or cellular tracks in biology.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment. Instructor of Computer Information Technology (Full-time)

The Business Department at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Instructor of Computer Information Technology.  This is a 9 month, non-tenure-track position available Fall 2016.  The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in one or more of the following areas:  cyber security, networking and enterprise systems, client/service-side web application development, mobile application development, computer programming languages, computer game design and development, and other courses in accordance with program needs.  Additionally, the successful candidate will exhibit evidence of potential for research in the discipline.

Digital Projects Librarian (Full-time)

The W.M. Logan Library at Schreiner University invites applications for the Digital Projects Librarian.  This a 10 month, non-tenure-track position available Fall 2016.  The successful candidate will assist in coordinating the design, creation, and maintenance of the collections and resources comprising the W.M. Logan Library as well managing a small Special Collections/ University Archives department. The successful candidates will work across library departments to assess and develop appropriate standards, policies, and procedures for the library’s digital initiatives and assorted traditional library services and resources, including the Texas Hill Country Collection and the Schreiner University collection.  Additionally, the digital projects librarian is expected to be involved in reference services, instruction, collection development, professional service, and scholarship. Some weekend and evening hours are required.  The Digital Projects Librarian should expect to serve as an advisor to undergraduate students. This position may teach each semester up to one course in a disciplinary field or in the general education program.

Qualifications: Position requires a MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program.  Experience with electronic reference services, strong commitment to public services, excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with a multitude of digital files and formats, programming experience , excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with library staff, faculty, and students in a team environment is preferred.

Adjunct Nursing Faculty Position

Seeking experienced part-time nursing faculty for online 7 week community health nursing course in a RN to BSN program.  A minimum of an MSN is required, experience in online teaching highly preferred. 


 Adjunct Nursing Faculty Position

Seeking experienced part-time nursing faculty for clinical instruction in a course focusing on care of individuals with chronic conditions. The clinical component comprises teaching in the skills laboratory, clinical conferences, and instruction in a hospital setting.  A minimum of an MSN is required.
