Assistnat Professor of Education (Full-Time)

PROFESSIONS IN EDUCATION /TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM at Schreiner University is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Education. This is a nine-month, tenure-track position. The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Earned doctorate in Education. ABD will be considered.
Full-time teaching experience in EC-12 school classrooms
Successful undergraduate university teaching experiences
Experience teaching a wide range of education courses for Teacher Certification         Experience in teaching reading and content methodology                                                       Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:                                                                   Principal certification preferred
Specialization in Reading                                                                                                        Specialization in Curriculum and Instruction and/or School Leadership or Improvement at the doctoral level
Experience with integrating instructional technologies in teaching, including implementing online courses
Experience in supervising clinical  teachers
Knowledge of state accreditation standards and procedures
Successful involvement with university-public school partnerships
Evidence of scholarly potential, including presentations and/or publications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                               Undergraduate teaching and some online graduate teaching in an MED or principal program
Teach introductory and education methodology courses; 4/4 teaching load.                             Teach Service Learning courses developed to provide student experience in schools  Participate in developing education curricula
Serve as advisor to education majors
Participate in university-public school partnership committees
Engage in scholarly activity leading to grants, presentations, and publications
Participate in service to the department, college, and university
Supervise field experiences and clinical teachers


Health Careers Advisor (Full-time)

The Department of Sciences at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Health Careers Advisor. This is a full-time position available August 2017.  The successful candidate will have teaching responsibilities in anatomy and physiology, microbiology and/or general biology courses. The successful candidate will develop and staff the Health Careers Advising Office and develop allied health programs utilizing distance learning and health care facility partnerships.  The candidate will coordinate activities and experiences appropriate for students in the allied health program.  The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in departmental duties, committee service, and campus activities.  Teaching load is 9 hours per semester.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate (preferred) in health care field, ABD with completion no later than August 2017, or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the health care industry.  Professional experience in a healthcare context and teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

 Assistant Professor Biology (Full time)

The Department of Sciences at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology. This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2017. The successful candidate should complement the expertise of the existing biology faculty and will be responsible for teaching all levels of biology courses, including general biology, anatomy and physiology, genetics, cell biology, and microbiology.  Candidates also are expected to offer undergraduate research opportunities in either the environmental or cellular tracks in biology.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment.  Assistant Professor of History (Full-time)

The Department of Social Sciences at Schreiner University welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Professor of History (United States).  This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2017.  The successful candidate will teach lower division general education courses in U.S. History as well as select upper division courses.  Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: public history, Texas studies, Latin America/Mexico, U.S. History up to 1877 (the end of Reconstruction), and digital humanities.  The successful candidate should be committed to working closely with students minoring in Texas studies.  The successful candidate will also have an active research agenda (area of specialization is open).  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment. Assistant Professor of Political Science (Full-time)

The Department of Social Sciences at Schreiner University welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Political Science.  This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2017.  The successful candidate will teach the basic introduction to American Politics course and a variety of courses in American politics (e.g. Presidency, Congress, Legislative Process, Public Policy, Public Administration, Media and Politics, Judicial process, etc.).  Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in working with pre-law majors and who are willing to assist pre-law majors successfully apply to and be accepted to law schools upon graduation.  The successful candidate will also have an active research agenda (area of specialization is open).  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment.  Assistant Professor of Music (Full-time)

The Department of Performing Arts at Schreiner University welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Music, specializing in instrumental studies.  This is a tenure-track faculty position available August 2017.  The successful candidate will direct the university concert band and jazz band, teach applied lessons, instrumental methods courses, and other auxiliary courses related to instrumental education.  Other duties will include supervision of the Music Education Program as well as co-directing an emerging graduate program in Songwriting.  The successful candidate will also have an active creative and performance agenda.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment.  Visiting Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry (Full-time and Temporary)

The Department of Sciences at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry. This is a full-time, temporary faculty position available August 2017. The successful candidate will teach a range of courses from general chemistry 1 and 2 to quantitative methods (analytical 1) and instrumental analysis (analytical 2).  Additionally, successful candidates.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment. Instructor of Business (Full time)                                                                                                      

The successful candidate will need to be able to teach in all areas of business management. Responsibilities include teaching, advising and participation in curricular development and assessment. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in departmental duties, committee service, campus activities, and engage in scholarship and/or creative activities aligned with institutional goals. This position will be available Fall 2017. Position is open until filled.

QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                                                               Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline, and earned doctorate or ABD with applicable completion date for tenure track. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken form. Excellent organization skills and a minimum of 5 years' experience in the area of Business Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching Effectiveness - provide current course syllabus, communicate course expectations, maintain knowledge in course content, communicate effectively, motivate students, maintain required office hours, respond to student needs, accept responsibility for student outcomes, perform self-evaluation, and allow for student evaluation.
  • Student Advising – provide appropriate collegiate and career advising, provide appropriate term-by-term scheduling, and provide time for each advisee assigned.
  • General Service to the University – meet contractual obligations and support the mission of the university by becoming involved with activities both on and off campus.
  • Scholarly/Creative Performance and Professional Activity – participate in curriculum development, participate in seminars, conferences, and professional meetings, produce the end result of scholarly research, pursue additional degrees and/or qualifications, and develop and implement funded grants.
  • Full Time Teaching Load: 12 hours per semester

ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITIONS:


Med-Serg Adjunct Nursing Instructor
The Department of Nursing at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Nursing with med-sug experience.. This position would be teaching evening clinnical classes. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate nursing students in the clinical components of Nursing Leadership and Management. Qualifications: BSN, Preferred master’s degree in nursing, a current Texas Registered Nurse license, and related clinical experience. Will consider a BSN with 15 hours of Masters in Nursing. Positions is open until filled. Review of applications will begin immediately.


Mental Health Adjunct Nursing Instructor
Provides direct student supervision in the clinical setting, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Responsibilites include working under the direction of the primary instructor. BSN and an unemcumbered license as a Registered Nurse is required. Mental health experience is preferred, but not required.  Position begins in January.


 Adjunct Lab Instructor Chemistry                                                                                                      Duties include General Chemistry lab setup, supervising students during labs, and student lab report evaluation. Preference will be given to the applicant with a master’s or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering, but degrees in science or math where the coursework included undergraduate credit in General Chemistry I and II will be considered. 


 Adjunct Instructor of Computer Information & Technology                                                 Schreiner University invites applications to fill an Adjunct Instructor position for its new CIT Concentration in Networking (Spring 2017). The successful candidate will need a minimum of a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline. Certifications are a plus, however the ability to communicate effectively to students and excellent organizational skills are required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Computer Information Technology is preferred, but not required. This position will typically involve one to two classes per semester, but will be on a semester to semester contract as needed.  Adjunct Instructor Mathematics
Duties include teaching lower-level coursework such as Developmental Mathematics, College Algebra, Finite Mathematics, Applied Statistics, or Pre-Calculus. Preference will be given to applicants with a master’s degree in mathematics, but degrees in mathematics education or statistics will be considered.


 Adjunct Instructor of History                                                                                                                        Duties include teaching lower-level introductory survey courses, women's studies, and historical methods.  Master's degree or eighteen graduate hours in History required, PhD  in History preferred.  


 Adjunct Instructor of English                                                                                                              Duties include teaching lower-level composition and writing courses, upper-level British and World literature. Master’s degree or eighteen graduate hours in English required, PhD in English preferred. 


 Adjunct Lab Instructor Physics
Duties include physics lab setup, supervising students during labs, and student lab report evaluation. Preference will be given to the applicant with a master’s or bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering, but degrees in science or math where the coursework included undergraduate credit in Physics I and II will be considered.


 Adjunct Instructor of Business                                                                                                             The Department of Business & Technology at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Business.  This is a part-time semester-to-semester contract (15 credit hours per year maximum), non-tenure-track position available summer 2016. 

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in one or more of the following areas:  introduction to business, professional business skills, management, marketing, finance, accounting, or interdisciplinary courses in accordance with program needs.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate (preferred) in a business or related field, ABD with completion no later than May 2016, or a master’s degree with 18+ graduate hours in a business discipline or related teaching discipline.  Evidence of prior teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

Adjunct Instructor of Business                                                                                                              The Department of Business & Technology at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Business with an emphasis in teaching in the area of Finance.  This is a part-time, non-tenure-track position on a semester-to-semester contract basis. Anticipated start date is January 2017.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate business students in one or more of the following areas:  Introduction to Business, Principles of Finance, Intermediate Finance, Investment Management, Real Estate Finance, Personal Finance, and other Finance courses in accordance with program needs.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in a Finance (Preferred) or a earned doctorate in a related business field with 18+ graduate hours in Finance or ABD status with a doctoral completion date of no later than December 2016. The Department of English & World Languages at Schreiner University seeks to hire one non-tenure-track (part-time) faculty member to teach basic Spanish language courses for their new interdisciplinary program in Spanish & Latin American Studies. The successful applicant should demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the language classroom. Experience or interest in contributing to curriculum-design are welcomed; Masters preferred but not required.
