Assistant Professor of Education (Full-time)

The Department of Education at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Education. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position available August 2013. The candidate must have a specialization in Reading, with an emphasis on emergent reading and multisensory phonics, as well as a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction and/or School Leadership or Improvement. Teaching responsibilities include teaching introductory education courses, service-learning courses in education, diagnosis and remediation, and clinical practices.

Successful candidates will have experience integrating instructional technologies and teaching, including implementing online courses, experience in supervising intern teachers and principal certification candidates, and/or experience in directing field experience. Successful candidates also will have principal certification and ILD/PDAS training and a thorough knowledge of state accreditation standards and procedures. Teaching in the University's groundbreaking interdisciplinary core curriculum also is expected.

Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and participation in curricular development and assessment. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in departmental duties, committee service, campus activities, and to engage in scholarship and/or creative activities aligned with institutional goals. Teaching load is 12 hours per semester.

Qualifications: Position requires an earned doctorate or ABD with completion no later than August 2013. Teaching experience at the collegiate level and in elementary school classrooms is preferred.

Full-time: 9 month contract, exempt faculty position
