Assistant Professor of Exercise Science (Full-time)

The Department of Exercise Science and Sport Management at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of assistant professor of exercise science. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position available August 2013. The successful candidate will teach in the areas of nutrition, kinesiology, biomechanics, and exercise physiology (including lab). Additional courses are dependent on the expertise of the person hired and needs of the program.

Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and excellence in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who have a broad understanding of the field of exercise and sport science and a commitment to promoting physical activity and wellness. The ability to work closely with colleagues in a small, student-centered undergraduate program is critical. Experience with college teaching, academic advising, curricular development and assessment, and undergraduate student research are highly desired.

Teaching in the University's groundbreaking interdisciplinary core curriculum also is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in departmental duties, committee service, campus activities, and engage in scholarship and/or creative activities aligned with institutional goals. Teaching load is 12 hours per semester.

Qualifications: Position requires a minimum of a master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline, although preference is for the earned doctorate or ABD with completion no later than August 2013 for tenure track.

Full-time: 9 month contract, exempt faculty position
