Admission Counselor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Report directly to the Associate Director of Admission Represent Schreiner University in the most professional and ethical manner at all times
  • Possess extensive job knowledge in college admission related work and understands the role it plays in serving the institutional mission
  • Communicate effectively with admission staff and also assist with office planning and problem solvingCoordinate with admission and financial aid staff to insure a student's successful transition from high school to college or from another college to Schreiner
  • Counsel students on undergraduate admission and financial aid processes
  • Evaluate transcripts of high school seniors
  • Ensure that all required documents are on file before (1) admitting, (2) sending to the Registrar for transfer evaluation, or (3) forwarding to the Director of the Learning Support Services Program
  • Represent Schreiner University at college day/night programs, receptions, alumni events, and all other approved functions
  • Maintain regular contact with prospective students through visits, email, written communication, telephone calls and other contact
  • Successfully complete recruitment of students in assigned market area(s), reporting requirements, and timely lead follow-up to reach performance levels
  • Establish relationships with all stakeholders, including guidance counselors, in assigned market area(s)
  • Assume added projects and responsibilities as required by the Associate Director or Dean of Admission and Financial Aid
  • Maintain University Office Safety by ensuring that all filing cabinet drawers are shut when not in use, cords are not across floor without being securely fastened down, all walkways remain clear in the office and hallway with no items hanging off edges or coming out from under the tables, and chairs are placed in unobtrusive areas
  • Ensure that all foods are not placed near office equipment areas to avoid potential equipment damageFacilitate communication among employees, students and management through interpersonal and professional communication techniques
  • Keeps up-to-date in communications
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality concerning all matters in the Office of Admission and Financial Aid and adheres to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Four-year college degree or higher
  • Computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Schedule), Internet, Email, or student information system
  • Self-starter with high achiever attitude
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Goal setterStrong desire to "serve" students and parentsWillingness to travel
  • Create relations and goodwill with university stakeholders
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily activities, exercise necessary follow up, and be detail oriented
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and public relation skills
  • Sales ability to "close"
  • Understanding of relationship and integrated marketing concepts
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with minimum supervision
  • High confidentiality level required
  • Use of sound judgment, maturity and responsibility

Rate:  DOE up to $26,000/yr
