Karen grew up in a small town west of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is married to one of the greatest men she knows, Steve. They live on a ranch in Kerr County. She has two children and five grandchildren. Karen jokingly refers to herself as a true Texas woman. When she is not teaching, she enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and swimming. Karen loves the teaching profession, and especially working with students who struggle with reading.
