Theatre

The Schreiner University Theatre Department offers students a variety of coursework in theatre basics leading to a major in theatre, a chance to direct in their junior and senior years, as well as participating in all the other vital aspects of live-theatrical performance (i.e. lighting, set construction, stage managing, sound, costumes, etc.)  Schreiner's Hanszen Fine Arts Theatre averages four productions per year (two per semester), each rendering students an outlet to develop their acting and technical abilities within an intimate setting with a capacity of 75-100.

Dr. Sullivan, who has studied under Dr. Oscar Brockett at the University of Texas at Austin and Dr. Paul Baker, formerly of The Dallas Theatre Center at Trinity University, has considerable theatric insight due to extensive on-stage experience in television and on stage specializing in choreography and directing. Though she directs at least one play per semester, many performances are student-directed with Dr. Sullivan available for advice and technical supervision.

For theatre majors, there are internships available through two regional theatres: the Smith-Ritch Theatre at the Hill Country Arts Foundation and at Playhouse 2000.

A few of Schreiner University's recent productions include:
Equus | Caucasian Chalk Circle | The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds

Productions from the not-so-recent include:
The Glass Menagerie | True West | Crimes of the Heart | Tally's and Son | After the Fall | J.B. | Endgame | The Chairs
