Schreiner
University is a great option for transfer students looking for small
classes, dedicated professors who actually teach (no teaching
assistants here), peer tutors, faculty advisors, a Writing Center,
an Honors Program, and many other services that support academic and
professional achievement.
Admission Process
Students who attempt course work at an accredited college or
university after high school graduation are considered transfer
students. An application, $25 application fee, and official
transcripts from all colleges where course work was attempted are
required. The University
Registrar completes a transcript evaluation
and determines the transfer grade point average (GPA) as well as
transfer of credit. Transfer students are required to have a minimum
2.0 Transfer GPA and must be eligible to return to last school
attended. Applicants with less than 15 semester hours of
transferable credit must meet the same admission requirements as
freshmen and are asked to submit standardized ACT/SAT test scores
and final high school transcript.
For more information on transferring your classes to Schreiner, the
University’s catalog is posted
here.
It may be helpful to read the introduction to Areas of Instruction
which explains the use of the Texas Common Course Numbering System
designation in parentheses next to the Schreiner course number.
Schreiner also posts current
curriculum guides on the website to assist both transfers and
current students.

other two-year or four-year accredited institutions also have
transferability opportunities due to Schreiner’s flexible transfer
of credit practices. Transfer credit is awarded if the transfer work
is comparable to that offered at Schreiner.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Schreiner offers competitive academic scholarships to transfers
ranging from $4,000 to $8,000 per year. An additional scholarship is
awarded to students who are active members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK),
the international honors society in community colleges. Also,
students who have attended an Alamo Community College are eligible
for another grant. Transfer students are encouraged to file the
FAFSA (Free

are eligible for need-based aid as well.

Orientation and
Advising
All students accepted for admission are required to pay a $100
commitment fee to accept the offer. The date the commitment fee is
received determines housing and orientation assignments. Committed
students receive information about registering for Transfer
Orientation where they can meet with an advisor to schedule classes.
When the student enrolls, the commitment fee is credited to the
student’s account.
