2017 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2017
9 a.m.–7 p.m., Registration: Pick up RECALL 2017 packets and name badges in lobby of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center (CCAC).
9 a.m.—Noon, The First Annual Charles Torti Memorial Tennis Tournament, (Preceded by the Carrie Torti Memorial Toast), at the Schreiner University Cree Family Tennis Complex.
10 a.m.–5 p.m., Hill Country Tour, Garrison Distillery in Hye, TX: Meet in the CCAC lobby at 9:45 a.m. for departure at 10 a.m. Limited to first 12 registrants. (FYI: We will provide transportation and there is no charge for the tours. Lunch is Dutch treat.)
1–6:30 p.m., Annual Randy Shepler (SI ’54) Alumni Golf Tournament at Riverhill Country Club: Scramble Format. Individual Green Fee is $125; for Recent SU grads (2011‒16), green fee is $75. Shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. Prizes for first four places, longest drive and closest to the pin. (Proceeds go to the SFSA Endowed Scholarship Fund.)
5‒7 p.m., Admissions Barbecue with potential fall 2017 freshmen students and their parents. Alumni are welcomed and encouraged to attend this event to meet potential students, their parents and Schreiner University Admissions staff. No Charge for this event hosted by the Admissions staff. Front lawn of CCAC.
7–9 p.m., Welcome Back Reception. Welcoming back all Schreiner alumni, including various student groups, current and former athletes, staff and faculty. Rebel Football Players from 1952 to 1971 and former and current baseball players will receive special recognition. (Hors d'oeuvres, beverages, cash bar available for alcoholic beverages) CCAC, 2nd floor, Ballroom 2.
9 p.m., Alumni Reunite at the Y.O. All ages of alumni and former students gather in the lobby or in the Elm Waterhole Saloon at the Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel
SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017
7:30 a.m.–1 p.m., Registration and pickup of Recall weekend packets continues in the lobby of the CCAC.
8‒9:30 a.m., Military Tribute Breakfast including Golden and Silver Grad pinning honoring all Schreiner former students who have served or are serving our country in the armed forces. Don Bishop ’64, will be our keynote speaker. We will also honor our Golden ‘67 and Silver Grads ’92 during the Military Breakfast. CCAC Ballroom 2.
10 a.m.—Noon, Dorm Tours.
10:30 a.m., Seniors Ring Ceremony, Location is Schreiner University’s Event Center.
11:30 a.m., Dedication of the Schreiner Baseball Field for “Coach Bob Henry” who founded Schreiner’s baseball program in the early 80’s.
Noon – 2 p.m., Antique and classic car show at Schreiner University Baseball and Softball Fields.
Noon—1:30 p.m., Family Picnic. It is always a great time for relaxing and reconnecting with old friends and making new ones while enjoying good food. Picnic will take place this year under the tent at Schreiner University athletic fields. Join in the fun at Schreiner Baseball and Softball fields. Double header games for both teams.
Men’s first game starts at noon, women’s at 1pm. At the beginning of the first baseball game, David Hulse’s (class of 1990) number will be retired.
12:15 - 1:15 p.m., Class and Group Photos will be taken during and immediately following the picnic between the baseball and softball fields. We will be roving the picnic area with signage announcing your time.
1:30 p.m., Music Tribute for Dr. Summerlin. Location, Tim Summerlin Music Education Hall including tours of this new campus education facility. (Schreiner Alumni rehearsal time is 11 a.m. in the Rehearsal Room of the new Music Education Hall.)
2:30 p.m., Annual Business Meeting of Schreiner Former Students Association. 2nd Floor of the Event Center in the Brooks Summit Suite.
4–5 p.m. Art Exhibit featuring the special artwork of Chancellor Dr. Tim Summerlin. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages served. CCAC 2nd floor, Gallery/Atrium Area.
6 p.m. Tribute to Schreiner Legends Banquet: Ken Murray '66 will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Honor. Richard E. Cree ’67 and Michael Pate ’71 will be honored as Distinguished Alumni. Meleah “Lea” Siebold Nye ’92 will receive the Schreiner Former Students Association Distinguished Service Award. Floyd and Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center (CCAC) 2nd floor ballrooms.
8—11 p.m. CASINO Night sponsored by the Schreiner University’s Student Activities Board. Location first floor of CCAC including The Lion’s Den, River Room, and the Lobby Area.
SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2017
10 a.m., RECALL Worship Service for current students, staff and alumni. Schreiner Alumnus, The Rev. Elaine Murray Dreeben ’09. Location at the new Tim Summerlin Music Education Center.
11:30 a.m., Farewell Brunch at the Schreiner Diner. Say goodbye to old friends— and new ones you’ll make at Recall 2017. Dutch treat.
BOOKSTORE AND LIBRARY HOURS
During Recall Weekend, William Logan Library and the Schreiner University Bookstore will open during the following hours:
Bookstore: Friday, April 21, 8 a.m. –8 p.m. and Saturday, April 22, 8 a.m.—3 p.m.
