Friday, April 19, 2013

10 a.m.–7 p.m. Registration and pickup of Recall weekend packets in the lobby of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center (CCAC).

11 a.m.-6 p.m. Hill Country Wine Trail Tour:. Spend  the afternoon visiting area wineries in Fredericksburg/Johnson City wine corridor. Must RSVP by Friday, April 12. Schreiner University staff will be your tour guide(s). Meet your tour guide in the lobby of the CCAC.

12:30–6:30 p.m. Annual Randy Shepler (SI '54) Alumni Golf Tournament, River Hill Country Club: Scramble Format. Individual Green Fee - $125. Recent grads of SU (2007–12), green fee - $75.  Shotgun start at 1 p.m. Prizes for first four places, longest drive and closest to the pin. (Proceeds go to the SFSA Endowed Scholarship Fund)

2–4 p.m. Schreiner Mansion Tours: See the original home of Captain Charles Schreiner, founder of Schreiner University. The building was donated to Schreiner University in 2009.This historical treasure is located in downtown Kerrville near City Hall's Peterson Plaza. Visit http://mansion.schreiner.edu/ for more information.

8–10 p.m. Bill Thompson 'SI-51 and Sam "Bubba" May 'I-52 Reception welcomes back to Schreiner all current and former Athletes, staff/faculty, scholars, and former students. CCAC 2nd Floor, Center Ballroom. 

10 p.m. Alumni Reunite at the Y.O.: All ages of alums and former students gather in the Lobby or in the Elm Waterhole Saloon at the Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel.

7:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Register and pickup Recall weekend packets continues in the Lobby of Cailloux Campus Activity Center

8–9:30 a.m. Military Tribute Breakfast and Golden Grad Pinning Ceremony for classes 1963 & earlier: New location this year will be The Commons, located outside main entrance of CCAC (Rain plan, CCAC Ballroom 3).

During your time on campus, visit our recently dedicated Veterans Memorial Wall in the Commons outside of CCAC.

9:30–10:30 a.m. "Sippin' with Science" Reception with the Professors Commuzzie, Miller, and others: Calling all former science majors—come see what hasn't changed and what has! For more information, contact Professor Kiley Miller kpmiller@schreiner.edu or call
830-792-7247. Location in the Moody Science Building,1st floor.

11 a.m. 6th Annual RECALL Parade: Parade theme for  Recall 2013  is "Schreiner Legends." Around the Campus Loop.

11:45 a.m.–1:30 p.m.  Family Picnic: It is always a great time for relaxing, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones while enjoying good food. Join us at the Robbins-Lewis Pavilion.

12:30 p.m. Silver Grad Recognition of 1988 grads: Graduates of that year will be recognized during Family Picnic at Robbins-Lewis Pavilion.

1 p.m. Decade Photos and anniversary class photos: Photos will be taken immediately following the picnic in the Robbins-Lewis area.


1 p.m. Alumni tennis matches: Time and location to be determined.

1:30 p.m. Annual Business Meeting of Schreiner Former Students Association: CCAC 1st Floor River Room Conference Room.

2 p.m.  Shoot with Schreiner Champions at Kerrville's Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, 1886 Cypress Creek Rd, Kerrville. ($75 fee for alumni and family; $50 for alums from the classes of 2007-2012)

2 p.m. Children's activities beginning at Robbins-Lewis.

2 p.m. Reunion with the former faculty and staff's children that lived on campus: Get together with Schreiner's kiddos that lived on campus back in the day when many faculty and staff members lived on campus. We will gather in the former Faculty Clubhouse adjacent to Robbins-Lewis Pavilion.

2-4 p.m. Reception and Tour at the Schreiner Mansion, 226 Earl Garrett, –This historical treasure and original home of Captain Charles Schreiner, founder of Schreiner University, is located in the heart of downtown Kerrville. This will be the first showing of items from the University's Permanent art collection during RECALL 2013,  THE POWER OF THE PEN....A JOURNEY INTO THE ART OF CHARLES SHAW. The artwork presented here represents the wonders associated as the mind visualizes each subject.  The subject can be a person, fantasy or words.  Each of these comes to life once the pen is placed to the paper.  The diversity represented in the works reflects the depth and talent of the artist.  The variation of themes i.e. people, creatures of fantasy and words of wisdom resonate with the wondrous work of the artist as he creates each piece with the pen. 

5-7 p.m. Art Exhibit and Reception: Schreiner University Seniors work will be exhibited along with Schreiner staff and graduate of 2007, Marcia McCulley. CCAC 2nd floor, Gallery/Atrium Area.

6 p.m. Tribute to Schreiner Legends Banquet: Schreiner University will honor the following: 2013 Distinguished Alumnus is Mr. Frank Sheppard '39; The 2013 Athletic Hall of Honor inductees are the 1980-81 National Champions Women's Tennis Team and Mr. Fredric Saunders '51. CCAC, 2nd floor Ballrooms.

6-8 p.m. Third Annual Graphic Design Alumni Reception: Join the Visual Arts Department faculty as we celebrate graduate accomplishments and the new BFA in Communication Design degree. We will "party" with refreshments and conversation on the 3rd floor studios, Kathleen C. Cailloux Professional Studies Building. Dress is casual; and significant others are welcome. 8-10 p.m. Comedy and Chocolate: Sponsored by Schreiner University's Student Activities Board. CCAC, 1st Floor, Lions Den.

9 p.m.- 12 a.m. Grape Juice located in Downtown Kerrville @623 West Water Street:  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this event for a great time visiting with your friends and classmates.

8:30 or 11 AM Worship Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church-Kerrville, 800 Jefferson Street.  Schreiner University's Campus Ministry, Schreiner's alum and students will lead the regular 8:30 and 11 am worship services at First Presbyterian Church (FPC).  We invite all alums and guests to join in celebrating our history and strong relationship between the college and the church over these past 90 years. Michael Kahl, choir director of Schreiner University and the First Presbyterian Church, will open up the choir to all alumni, spouses of alumni and even friends of alumni or SU for the 11 am worship service at FPC on April 21st, Recall Weekend.  How exciting!  They will need to be at the choir room at FPC by 10:20 am that Sunday to rehearse.

11 a.m. Farewell Dutch Treat Brunch in Gus Schreiner Dining Hall: This is your chance to say goodbye to old friends and to the new ones you'll make at Recall 2013 Dutch treat.



During Recall Weekend, the Library and Bookstore will open during the following hours:
William Logan Library: Fri. 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sat. Noon to 5 p.m.
Bookstore: Fri. 7:45 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
