Seabiscuit links: My great-uncle, Tom Smith, was Seabiscuit's trainer.  In August 2001, I went to Saratoga Springs, New York, for Tom's induction into the National Horse Racing Hall of Fame.

UPDATE March 2003!! Chris Cooper, who is playing Tom Smith in the movie version of the Seabiscuit story, won an Academy Award as best supporting  actor for his role in the Nicholas Cage/Merrill Streep movie "Adaptation." 

Update July 2003!!!!  The movie's official website is filled with digital surprises and new trailers: http://seabiscuitmovie.com  Also, Laura Hillenbrand will be on 20/20 July 18, is in the current issue of The New Yorker, and the movie will be a Newsweek cover story.
