Seabiscuit links: My great-uncle, Tom Smith, was Seabiscuit's trainer. In August 2001, I went to Saratoga Springs, New York, for Tom's induction into the National Horse Racing Hall of Fame. Chris Cooper, who is playing Tom Smith in the movie version of the Seabiscuit story, won an Academy Award as best supporting actor for his role in the Nicholas Cage/Merrill Streep movie "Adaptation."
