Since August 1977
Dr. Stevens initiated the first science program with the biology major in 1986; served as Division Chair (later Dean) of Natural and Professional Sciences from 1983 to 1990; started the Schreiner University Chapter of the Texas Academy of Science; initiated the Schreiner University Chapter of the American Association of University Professors.
   

Other activities at Schreiner: Nonfiction book club, Monday Night Fiction, Crate Lecture Series, Faculty Friday

Professional interests: ecology, evolution, philosophy of science, using spreadsheets in science

Personal: Married to Patricia Chastain (Instructor of Spanish). Originally from Wisconsin and still spends time there in the summer. Enjoys camping and canoeing.

Comment:  I enjoy keeping up with many of my students after they graduate from Schreiner.
