The Schreiner University Choir and Strings trip from May 15-18 in the Hill Country and Austin was deemed a great success by Michael Kahl, director of SU choir, who said this was the group’s second time promoting the music program at Schreiner University.
“We do this to recruit and promote Schreiner University’s music department at regional high schools and Presbyterian Churches in the Hill Country and Austin area,” Kahl said. “The response from the high school students and audience members at the Rio Terra Retirement Community and Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin was overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic.”
During the trip, the choir and string students perform for and interact with students and people from high schools and churches.
“To see the looks on people’s faces after we finish a song is confirmation that all of the hours of practice we put into that particular piece of music was worth it,” Kahl said. “We are not a big program but everyone involved is truly invested in giving their best to make wonderful music.”
