Student Services is happy to announce the selection of sophomore Joseph Plachno as Schreiner's August 2013 Student Leader of the Month.
Joseph, a Political Science major from San Angelo, TX, currently serves as a student manager of the Mountaineer Fitness Center (link to http://students.schreiner.edu/campus-recreation/index.aspx), Lifeguard, Senate Member-at-large, Honors Student, Peer Advisor, Mountaineer Mentor, and is the vice president of the Chi Phi Fraternity.
Drew Dobbins, director of the Mountaineer Fitness Center and Campus Recreation, had this to say about Joseph: “Joseph works with me directly and as a sophomore he has taken a giant leap forward in his leadership, confidence, and communicative abilities. I trust him and I truly appreciate his promptness and work ethic. He handles many responsibilities like managing the MFC and scheduling 16 work study students. He is also a part-time lifeguard and is finalizing the lifeguard instructor course through the American Red Cross. Joseph is, without a doubt, gaining valuable experience and is really getting exposed to the daily stresses and management protocols that come in a university setting. His time and efforts are greatly appreciated!”
The Student Leader of the Month, sponsored by Student Services, recognizes a Schreiner University undergraduate student for their excellence in leadership through campus involvement, leadership activities and/or through volunteer and community service programs.
