STARS Scholarship (South Texas Academic Rising Scholars):
This scholarship is for
South Texas residents. If you are
from one of the following counties you qualify: Aransas, Bee,
Brooks, Cameron, Duval, Goliad, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Hidalgo,
Karnes, Kenedy, Kleberg, La Salle, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces,
San Patricio, Refugio, Starr, Webb, Willacy, or Zapata. Awards
are $1,000 - $3,500. You can review the information at their

our scholarship book with the application and requirements.
National Presbyterian College Scholarship: For full time incoming freshmen who plan to attend one of
the Presbyterian-related colleges including Schreiner.

Urban Scholarship Fund: For graduating high
school seniors and returning college students, attending any
accredited nonprofit college, university or technical school. Award amount is $2000 at an independent four-year college or
university. Student must be a United States citizen and resident
of Texas, demonstrate financial need (EFC not exceeding 200), an
undergraduate student in good academic standing at the end of
the 2001-2002 or a graduate of a high school in one of the
following cities: Abilene, Amarillo, Arlington, Austin,
Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Garland,
Houston, Irving, Laredo, Lubbock, Mesquite, Pasadena, Plano, San
Antonio and Waco. Applications available at the
Schreiner University Office of Financial Aid or by calling the
TADC Urban Scholarship Program at 1-214-630-2511.
USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships: The USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships program will
award renewable scholarships to students with financial need. Full-time students are eligible for $1500 and half-time
students may qualify for $750. Students must remain continuously
enrolled and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average
of 2.5 or higher. Up to 50% of the scholarships awarded
will be targeted to students with financial need, are members of
an ethnic minority group or are physically disabled.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund: Opportunity for Qualified Two-Year College Transfer

What is the Hispanic Scholarship Fund? The HSF exists for
one reason: to strengthen America by advancing the college
education of Hispanic Americans. In its 25-year history, the HSF
has provided more than 45,000 scholarships totaling over $58
million. The current goal of HSF is to double the rate of
Hispanics earning baccalaureate degrees by 2010. To ensure
success, the transfer rate for Latino students must increase
dramatically.
What is the Community College Transfer Scholarship Program? The Community College Transfer Scholarship Program is designed
to assist community college students of Hispanic heritage obtain
a bachelor's degree.

Higher Education
Grant Program The Higher Education Grant Program
provides supplemental grants to eligible Indian students seeking
an undergraduate degree. Students must apply and gain admission
to an accredited college or university and demonstrate financial
need as determined by the financial aid officer of the intended
institution.

Must be a member of or at least one-quarter degree Indian blood
descendent of a member of an American Indian tribe, which is
eligible for the special programs and services provided by the
United States because of their status as Indians.

Must be accepted for admission to a nationally accredited
institution of higher education which provides a course of study
conferring the Associate of Arts or Bachelor's degree.

Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the financial
aid officer of the institution of higher learning.
