“PARTS OF THE WHOLE”: A STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP
The “Parts of the Whole” study abroad scholarship was
created by Dr. Lydia Kualapai, professor of English and
travel photographer, with funds she received from the
“Elmore Whitehurst Award for Creative Teaching,”
sponsored by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation. With the
award funds, Dr. Kualapai staged an exhibit on campus of
her photographs; proceeds from the sale of the work,
featuring some of the photographs made during her
travels with Schreiner students, constitutes the basis
for the scholarship. These funds are divided into two
$1,000 scholarships and are designed to be used toward
trip cost for any one of Schreiner University’s
course-related travel trips.
The scholarship application requires completion of the
application form and a two-page (500 words) blind essay
describing how the scholarship would assist the
applicant’s educational and personal objectives and how
the ability to travel abroad will enhance his/her life.
Applications will be reviewed and awarded by the Study
Abroad Committee.
Applications may be obtained in the office of the
Coordinator for Study Abroad, Dickey Hall 105, or
the application in PDF. |
