Work study is usually campus-based employment not to exceed 20 hours per week. This is flexible and most students work around 10 hours per week. It is a job like any other. The student works and every two weeks a check is cut for them depending on the number of hours they have worked during that period.
The funding for this program may come from the federal or state governments or directly from Schreiner University . A student must demonstrate financial need to receive federal or state work study, but Schreiner work study is not need-based.
A student must indicate on their FAFSA that they are interested in work study for the Office of Financial Aid to include it on the student's award letter. This allows the student to apply for work study. They still have to interview with a department and work the hours to receive the benefit.
The Human Resource office monitors the work study positions on campus and applications for employment must be made through them.
