Financial Aid: Student Stories
This is Andre’s second time through Schreiner. After earning his LVN certification and working in a hospital, Andre returned to Schreiner for a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. “This university offers the perfect opportunity to find your passion and excel. The smaller classes and personal teaching provide the optimal environment to learn and thrive. I am honored and privileged that the Hill Country College Fund recognized my college dreams and helped to make them a reality,” Botha says.
"Schreiner University has an amazing system for helping students get the funding they need. I received not only enough funds to pay my tuition, but there was also some left to help cover my living expenses. I have a great relationship with our financial aid office and, with minimal effort, any other student can, too. I appreciate all the hard work the financial aid office put towards my financial support." ~ Stacey Digs, Bandera, Biology Major for pre-medical class of 2012
Applying to Schreiner University was actually a back-up plan for this local student. Derek says, “After I visited the University for the first time, I knew it was the place I should go. My top priority is to get closer and closer to my goal of becoming a doctor.” He is a biology major with a perfect grade point average while serving as Freshman Class President last year, Vice President of the Green Society, and a member of the Honors Society and Medical Careers Club. Derek spent last summer volunteering at Peterson Regional Medical Center and working at Camp CAMP – a non-profit facility for special needs campers. He looks forward to his duties as Executive Secretary of the Student Senate this year. After Schreiner, Derek plans to attend medical school and pursue his interest in cardiology.
