Hill Country College Fund (HCCF)

Hill Country College Fund (HCCF)Help us offer a life-changing difference by sending a student to college in the Hill Country. A private liberal arts education is affordable! Because Schreiner University awards generous financial aid packages, the tuition is comparable to many public Texas institutions. One source of this financial aid is the Hill Country College Fund (HCCF). The fund is comprised of donations from people like you, and 100% of the money raised goes directly to student grants. We need your support.

Text - The practice of supporting ...

Just as Schreiner students are studying history, economics, and calculus, they are also “learning by heart” a variety of other lessons to last their lifetimes. Schreiner is committed to developing citizens imbued with discernment, compassion and concern for the common good. We believe you can see the pay-it-forward concept that started in ancient Athens right here on the Schreiner campus.

• For instance, education majors run the “Reading Academy,” helping area youngsters improve their reading skills and imparting a love for books.

• Summer interns volunteer at regional hospitals, youth shelters, the Red Cross, and camps for special needs children.

• Campus Ministry leads a Spring Break work experience, the last one to Bastrop to help local citizens rebuild after the devastating fires.

Consider the story of Lindsey Rhoden, a 2011 SU graduate. She began her higher education at a large university, but it just did not feel right. Lindsey learned that she could return to her hometown and qualify for the Hill Country College Fund. Three years later, she graduated with honors.

Today, Lindsey works toward her dream of becoming a pediatric surgeon and continues her education at the School of Medicine at UT Health Science Center, San Antonio.

Lindsey will graduate with a medical degree and a master’s degree in public health in 2015 and will then train as a surgeon. She is a shining example of paying-it-forward!

Many challenges confront higher education in general, and the challenges for Schreiner University students are no different.

Cost and access are two notable difficulties that we can overcome together by supporting the Hill Country College Fund.

The goal is to raise $565,000 and your participation can make a big difference!
