Schreiner University has kicked off this
year’s
Hill Country College Fund. Campaign
leaders announced that $101,070 has been
raised in advanced gifts toward this
year’s $220,000 goal.
“This campaign makes a huge impact on
generations of students,” said Lucy
Gould, associate director of annual
giving at Schreiner. “For some Hill
Country College Fund makes the
difference in continuing on to college
or not going at all.”
HCCF provides need-based tuition grants
to Schreiner students from Kerr,
Gillespie, Bandera, Kendall, Kimble
Edwards and Real counties.
This year's campaign Chairman is Stan
Cobbs, former Director of Church
Relations at Schreiner and Vice-Chair
Linda Somerville, Security State Bank.
HCCF Campaign Division Co-chairs are:
- Advanced Gifts Division: Bob Waller, Broadway Bank and Sue Steele,
Bank of the Hills.
- Business Division: Joe Herring Jr., Herring Printing Co., and Harold
Crocker, Croker Real Estate.
- Community Division: Stephen Harris, Hill Country State Bank, and
Cheri Rue, Wells Fargo.
- University Division: Dr. William Woods, Schreiner dean of the
school of liberal arts, and Lane
Barrington, administrative assistant,
office of the president at Schreiner.
Dr. Tim Summerlin of Schreiner spoke
about “What Scholarships Mean to
Schreiner University,” and attendees
also heard from two HCCF recipients,
Jared Grove and Katelyn Van Slycke,
about what HCCF has meant to them.
