Wells Fargo Presents Check to
Hill Country College Fund

KERRVILLE, Texas – Wells Fargo Bank president Roy Thompson
recently presented Schreiner University’s
Hill Country
College Fund with a check for $3,000 to help fund need-based
tuition assistance grants for area Schreiner students.
“Wells Fargo is a wonderful company that is invested in the
future of our community’s vitality and success. They believe
in the importance of educating tomorrow’s leaders and we are
very fortunate to have them as a partner in education. Their
generous gift will ensure that local students, who might not be
able to attend college for financial reasons, will have the
opportunity to pursue their dreams of a college education,” said
Jennifer Farhoudi, the associate director of
development for annual giving at Schreiner University.

Since the
Hill Country College Fund began in 1977, it has provided
more than $7.5 million in need-based tuition assistance to
students from Kimble, Kerr, Gillespie, Kendall, Bandera, Real,
and Edwards counties and helps more than 270 Hill Country
Students annually. Hill Country College Fund grants provide an
average of over $2,000 a year per recipient and one hundred
percent of funds raised goes directly to student scholarships.

Faculty Show Support of Hill Country College Fund

KERRVILLE, Texas – When it comes to education, Schreiner
University staff and faculty members don’t just talk the talk,
they also walk the walk. Ninety-six Schreiner University
employees contributed to the
Hill Country College Fund this
year, ensuring that local students, who might not be able to
attend college due to financial reasons, are able to pursue
their dreams of a college education.
“Hill
Country College Fund is a community effort and I am
happy to see the university community doing its part. Our
students appreciate the outpouring of generosity not just from
the university community, but also from local community members
and businesses. It means so much to them to know that so many
people believe in them and want to see them succeed,” said
Jennifer Farhoudi, the associate director of development for
annual giving at Schreiner University.
Since the
Hill Country College Fund began

KERRVILLE HOST LIONS
CLUB PRESENTS CHECK
TO HILL COUNTRY COLLEGE FUND

KERRVILLE, Texas – The Kerrville Host
Lions Club recently presented Schreiner University’s Hill Country
College Fund with a check for $500 in memory of Lion John Mullins.
Mullins was a committed volunteer for Hill Country College Fund for many
years. Their donation will help fund need-based tuition assistance
grants for area Schreiner students. Since 1917, Lions Clubs have always
embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their
community.

“Education was very important to John and we are honored that the Host
Lions Club chose to remember him in this very special way. Their
donation to HCCF will ensure that many Hill Country Schreiner students,
who would otherwise be unable to attend college due to financial
reasons, are able to pursue their dreams of a college education,” said

HCCF Drive Starts Off Big September 9, 2005
Hill
Country College Fund campaign leaders announced Wednesday at the kickoff
luncheon that $100,000 has been raised in advanced gifts toward this
year’s record $530,000 goal.
The Hill Country College Fund provides tuition assistance grants for
residents of Kerr, Gillespie, Kendall, Kimble, Bandera, Real and Edwards
counties.
Kerrville resident and long-time friend of Schreiner University Masel
Quinn has brought excitement to HCCF campaign kickoffs for several
years, making advanced gifts in the last moments before the volunteers
begin making their calls. This year she announced her gift of nearly
$53,000.
HCCF’s 2005-06 campaign chairman is Bob Waller, president of Broadway
Bank’s Kerrville branch. He is assisted by campaign co-chairwoman Diane
Green, president of Kerr County Abstract and Title Co.; seven division
chairmen and a cadre of other volunteers.
Advanced Gifts co-chairmen are Berna Jean Mattheis and Mike Hunter.
Business Division co-chairmen are Brian Bondy and Guy Overby. Community
Division co-chairwomen are Sue Robertson and Mindy Wendele. University
Division chairwoman is Diana Comuzzie.
At the luncheon, Schreiner non-traditional student and HCCF recipient
Patricia Rivera told the audience about her experience growing up
believing that her dream of becoming a teacher was out of her reach. Now
a wife and mother, she has discovered the joy of becoming a Schreiner
University student and is well on her way to realizing her dream. She
said she owes it to those who have supported the Hill Country College
Fund.
Attending the HCCF kickoff luncheon were members of local service clubs:
American Association of University Women, Executive Women’s Club, Host
Lions, Kiwanis Club of Kerrville, Morning Rotary Club, Noon Rotary Club,
Optimist Club and Sunrise Lions Club.
