Whether your goal is to earn a higher salary
or open up options in your career choices in
education, we have the program that fits
your busy lifestyle. In a single year, you
can achieve your professional and
educational goals. Choose a Master of
Education in Teaching (which requires a
current Texas teaching certificate) and
go to graduate school while you teach. You
also will have the option of adding one more
block of courses (15 hours) to
complete a principal certification or choose
the Masters in Education Program (which
does not require a teaching certificate).
The Graduate Alternative Teacher
Certification Program is a 24-hour
cohort program which can be completed in two
semesters beginning with the fall semester.
The program is for individuals who have a
Baccalaureate degree and are seeking teacher
certification in an area presently offered
at Schreiner University. The program is
offered in the same hybrid instructional
format as the Master’s Program.

The Master of Education Program and the
Master of Education in Teaching Program
are developed using a cohort approach to
learning. Students begin the program as a
group and continue through the program
together. The master’s 36-hour program can
be completed in two semesters and a summer
session. The program is designed so that
students attend class on the Schreiner
campus once a month during the fall and
spring semesters and once a week during the
month of June. The on campus sessions are
held on Saturdays. The face-to-face and
online activities combine for an educational
experience that promotes active involvement
and independent learning. The courses are
arranged in a block format
