Is online learning as effective as
classroom instruction?
Studies show that an online course taught
using a combination of asynchronous (the instructor and learner are not
online at the same time) and synchronous
instruction (the instructor and the
learner are online together) is equally
as effective as strictly classroom
instruction. Our hybrid approach to online
learning provides the best of classroom
instruction with the best of today's
technology.
What is the definition of online
learning?
Online learning refers to learning through
the use of a computer and the Internet. The
material is presented as text, graphics,
audio, video or a combination of any of
these. This style of learning offers
instructional flexibility and variety that
is both versatile and interactive.
What will online learning look like?
Because
LEARNING by HEART
ONLINE
uses a hybrid approach, you will have both
the benefit of face to face sessions with
your professor and fellow classmates and the
convenience of weekly online instruction and
completion of assignments. You will meet
once a month on campus during the regular
semester and approximately once a week
during the summer semester. This will allow
for personal assistance and instruction and
the opportunity to collaborate with other
students in discussion, projects, and
presentations.
The online learning segment of our hybrid
program occurs on our user friendly
Schreiner One interactive online service. If you can email
online or use the Internet you can
successfully navigate our online
instructional delivery system. Online
learning is being able to grab your cup of
coffee, turn on your computer, and complete
your assignments whether it is early in the
morning or late at night. Your professor or
fellow classmates are always available to
help you with your questions. Schreiner
University offers an online support system
through our library resources and a help
desk. Weekly instruction and feedback will
be provided. Your Schreiner One personal
account will allow you to download your
syllabus and all classroom materials at any
time.
What type of learning experiences are
provided?
The program utilizes a variety of teaching
tools. Besides traditional textbook
materials, supplemental readings and student
workbooks, your online classroom will
include audio text, videos, forums and chat
rooms. |
