Subsidized Stafford Loans
This is a need based loan program that
provides low/no interest loans to students
who are attending Schreiner at least
half-time. If you are eligible for a
Stafford Subsidized loan, the federal
government pays the interest on the loan
while you are enrolled in school at least
half-time (6+ credit hours per semester).
Annual loan limits are:
Up to $8,500 – Graduate & Professional
Students
Aggregate Lifetime Loan Limits may affect
this amount.
Zero % while in school and grace period.
5.6% during repayment if disbursed after
July 1, 2009. |

Stafford Unsubsidized Student Loan for
Independent Students
This loan is available to independent
undergraduate and graduate students. It is
not need based, but other Stafford
conditions do apply.
Up to $12,000 -- Graduate students
Aggregate Lifetime Loan Limits may affect
this amount.
Interest rate is currently fixed at 6.8%. |

Grad/PLUS Loans
Available to Graduate students who need
additional funding or have maxed out their
aggregate lifetime limits.
The Office of Financial Aid recommends that
students
contact us
for counseling before applying for this
loan. The loan requires a credit check and
additional conditions may apply. Grad/PLUS
entrance and exit loan counseling must also
be completed. |

Loan Forgiveness Option.

TEACH GRANT
Available to graduate students US Citizen or
eligible non-citizens who have completed the
FAFSA, are enrolled in a TEACH Grant
approved institution (SU IS APPROVED), and
currently are or plan to be teaching in a
high need field. The GRANT becomes an
unsubsidized Direct Loan if the student does
not meet the criteria agreed to when they
sign their Agreement to Serve with the
Department of Education.

The Office of Financial Aid requires each
Teach Grant recipient to undergo entrance,
continual, and exit counseling in person
each time a disbursement is received.
