Schreiner University Hosts Speak Truth to Power Series March 22
Schreiner University’s Speak Truth to Power Series will be showing the film “Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price” Wednesday, March 22 at 7 p.m.
The viewing will be held in the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center Theatre. The program is free and open to the public.
According to the film’s Web site the movie “dives into the deeply personal stories and everyday lives of families and communities struggling to fight a goliath. A working mother is forced to turn to public assistance to provide healthcare for her two small children. A Missouri family loses its business after Wal-Mart is given more than $2 million to open its doors down the road. A mayor struggles to equip his first responders after Wal-Mart pulls out and relocates just outside the city limits. A community in California unites, takes on the giant retailer and wins.”
Schreiner professors Dr. Tom Wells and Conner Baldwin will introduce the film and lead a discussion afterwards.
For more information contact Wells, Schreiner professor of exercise science, at 830-792-7429 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
