Hill Country College Fund Reaches Goal

The Hill Country College Fund 2005–06 campaign volunteers surpassed their goal and raised $532,783 to fund need-based tuition assistance grants for Schreiner University students from Kerr, Gillespie, Bandera, Kendall, Kimble, Edwards and Real counties.

“What a wonderful community we live in, that so many believe in empowering our youth though education! We at Schreiner University greatly appreciate those in the community who helped us meet our Hill Country College Fund campaign goal,” said Jennifer Farhoudi, associate director of development for annual giving. “One hundred percent of the money raised by our dedicated group of volunteers and staff will provide scholarship assistance to our Hill Country students. These scholarships are vital to our students’ success, as many of them would be unable to attend college if it were not for the assistance they receive from HCCF and the donors who support this fund drive.”

The 2005–06 HCCF leaders were Campaign Chairman Bob Waller and Vice Chairwoman Diane Green. “The unselfish giving from businesses and individuals should be applauded,” said Waller. “I would also like to thank the volunteers who helped with this campaign.”

About 100 area volunteers annually solicit gifts for the campaign, beginning with the Advanced Gifts team, co-chaired this year by Mike Hunter and Berna Jean Mattheis. The campaign’s other division leaders were: Brian Bondy and Guy Overby, Business Division; Sue Robertson and Mindy Wendele, Community Division; and Diana Comuzzie, University Division.

Schreiner University is an independent coeducational liberal arts university related by choice and by covenant to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). For more information, visit our Web site at or call the Office of Admission at (830) 792-7217.
