Leaders Named to Head Up Schreiner’s Scholarship Fund

Schreiner University’s 2006-2007 academic year will begin soon, and so will the scholarship campaign to assist local students. With an anticipated increase in Schreiner’s enrollment, Hill Country College Fund becomes increasingly vital in assisting local students with the ability to attend college. The HCCF will officially kick off on Sept. 6, 2006, and has a goal of raising $535,000. All funds raised are for scholarships for Hill Country students.

Diane Green has taken on the challenge of leading this very important campaign. Green, owner of Kerr County Abstract & Title Company, will serve as chairman of the campaign. “The future of our community is dependent on a well-educated, quality workforce. Schreiner University is dedicated to educating its students and preparing them for a successful future. What better investment can we make than showing our strong support of the Hill County College Fund!” says Green.

In addition to the leadership provided by Green, this year’s HCCF drive’s division leaders are Sue Tiemann, Commercial Realty Services, and Mindy Wendele, City of Kerrville. Leading the Advanced Gifts Division; Carlton Edwards, Hill Country State Bank, and Roland Pena, LCRA; For the Business Division; Linda Somerville, Security State Bank, and Philip Stacy, Union State Bank for the Community Division; and Carole Errett, Schreiner faculty, and LaVonne Miller, Schreiner staff, for the University Division.

The Hill Country College Fund began in 1977 and since then has awarded over $8 million to students from Kerr and surrounding counties. If you are interested in volunteering or giving to HCCF, please contact Schreiner University’s Director of Development, Mignonne Frantzen at 830-792-7208.
