Seventeen Students Receive Leadership Awards


Schreiner University honored 17 students at the Annual Student Leadership Awards Ceremony held on campus April 28.

The following students received awards: Megan McDonald of Tomball, daughter of Joan McDonald, Good News in Campus Ministry Award; Houston Brown of Kerrville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown Jr. of Premont, Good News in Campus Ministry Award; Tiffany Kirkland of Odessa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kirkland, Outstanding Career Phonathon Caller; Matthew Reece of San Antonio, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Reece Jr., Outstanding Rookie Phonathon Caller; Elizabeth Boulware of Saginaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jenkins, Servant Leadership Award; Valeria Castro of Hutto, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Castro, SCOP Most Volunteer Hours 2005-2006; Jeremiah Parsons of Kerrville, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Parsons, SCOP Most Participation 2005-2006; Cortnie Jones of Kerrville, daughter of Donna Jones of Kerrville and Bob Jones of Ventura, Calif., Student Employee of the Year; Delma Thompson of Huntsville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Thompson, SWAT Outstanding Service; Mary Wingo of Odessa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wingo, Greek Woman of the Year; Dustin Hill of Spring, son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Hill, Greek Man of the Year and Senate Leadership Award; Colby Garrison of Houston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Garrison, Peer Advisor of the Year; August Blackburn of Blanco, son of Wilson Blackburn, Senate Leadership Award; Chad Baker of New Braunfels, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Baker, Senate Leadership Award; Holly Clark of Winnsboro, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Clark, Senate Leadership Award; Heather Lee of Fair Oaks Ranch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee, Senate Leadership Award; and Kristen Morton of San Angelo, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Morton, Sam M. Junkin Outstanding Character Award.

The following recognized student organizations earned awards at the ceremony: Alpha Sigma Alpha, Greek Excellence Award; Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, Inter-Greek Challenge Award; Campus Ministry, Dean’s Cup; and Colleges Against Cancer, RSO Outstanding Community Service Award. Denise Ames, Assistant Director of Financial Aid, was awarded Supervisor of the Year.
