Schreiner University’s
Exercise Science
Program
is now one of the select programs
endorsed by the American College of
Sports Medicine. |

The
ACSM is
considered the gold standard in health and
fitness certifications and professional
memberships.
Schreiner University assistant professor of
exercise science,
Dr. Ben Snyder said the certification
process began last fall.
“Our students can be confident that they are
going through a program that prepares them very
well for a career in fitness,” Snyder said.
Following a review of more than 40 programs,
ACSM endorsed Schreiner’s program curriculum as
meeting the academic standards needed to prepare
students for health, fitness and or clinical
exercise training and positions.
Synder said another advantage to students is
that the program’s curriculum covers the
knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to
prepare them for the ACSM certification
examination.
“They will walk out of here ready to take this
exam and be certified,” he said.
This prestigious endorsement creates a pathway
for Schreiner to offer students unique benefits,
including: feedback from ACSM on student
performance, including examination scores and
knowledge; skills and abilities required for
health and fitness certification; and unique
professional development opportunities for
students and faculty through ACSM programs.
