Olympic
gold medalist
Josh Davis will be speaking at Schreiner
University Wednesday, Nov. 8.
He will be speaking in the Cailloux Campus
Activity Center on the Schreiner campus at
7 p.m. The public is invited to attend
this free event.
In 1996, Davis made history by becoming the only
man in any sport from any nation to win 3 gold
medals during the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
With a passion for representing our country, he
returned to the Olympics in Sidney in 2000 where
he was elected captain of the USA men's swim
team. He went on to break the American record
three times in his event the 200-meter
free-style and won two silver medals at the 2000
Sidney Games. After two Olympics and five
medals, Josh has established himself as
ambassador for the sport of swimming and is
pioneering the road for the next generation of
professional swimmers.
Davis is now a faith-based motivational speaker.
He has been involved with the ministry
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletes in
Action for many years. While a student at The
University of Texas, he became president of
FCA and started a life-long passion of
sharing with others the reason for the hope he
has in his own life.
Max Lucado, a renowned Christian author,
speaker and pastor, said this about Davis, "Go
ahead. Look long and hard. Search every corner
of every city. You won't find anyone quite like
Josh Davis. Solid family. Deepening faith.
Phenomenal athlete. Gold medals. Gold heart. I
love hearing him speak. I love watching him
live. He is as good as they come."
The Schreiner University Fellowship of Christian
Athletes and Campus Ministry are sponsoring this
event.
