Schreiner graduates
more than 100 in 2007 |

Schreiner
University will confer 99 Baccalaureate degrees, 19
Masters degrees and one Associates degree upon its
2007 graduates at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at the
Edington Sports Center on campus. This will be the
24th commencement since Schreiner University handed
out its first four-year degrees in 1984. |

Dr. Belle
Wheelan, president of the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools’ (S.A.C.S.)
Commission on Colleges, will deliver the
commencement address, “The Last Lecture.”
S.A.C.S. is the accrediting agency for
colleges and universities within the
11-state region that includes Texas.
Dr. Wheelan is a former secretary of
education for the state of Virginia who
began her community college administration
career at San Antonio College. She is
currently a member of the Presidents’ Round
Table of the National Council on Black
American Affairs. Dr. Wheelan was awarded
her Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity
University in San Antonio, majoring in both
psychology and sociology. She earned a
doctorate in educational administration from
the University of Texas. |

As is tradition, a 10:30 a.m. baccalaureate
ceremony will precede commencement. Dr. Steve A. Martin, chairman of
the board of trustees of the Presbyterian Church and founder of the North
Carolina consulting firm, Martin/Frankel Associates, will take the text of
his talk from Deuteronomy 6:4-12 in an address titled “The Gift Outright.” |
