The membership
award is presented to chapters that show a notable increase in
membership during a single year. The Schreiner chapter membership
saw an increase of 35 percent during the 2006-2007 academic year.
"We appreciate this
recognition by the national Alpha Lambda Delta organization and are
proud to have such an outstanding group of young scholars
representing Schreiner University,” said Peg Layton, Schreiner’s
vice president for enrollment and student services and dean of
students.
Alpha Lambda Delta is a national
honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence
among first year students. Today, Alpha Lambda Delta has more than
250 chapters throughout the United States and more than $750,000
students have been initiated into membership since the first chapter
was started more than 80 years ago.
Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta is open to full-time freshmen
students who earn a scholastic average of 3.5 or better at a
four-year college or university.
