Schreiner pop culture symposium to discuss Bob Dylan

 

Schreiner University’s ninth annual Popular Culture Symposium will start at noon, Friday, Nov. 2, in the theater of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the Schreiner campus. Dr. David Gaines of Southwestern University will speak on “The Ongoing Canonization of Bob Dylan.”

Dr. Gaines is an associate professor and chairman of Southwestern’s Department of English. He teaches 20th century American literature, “Film as Literature,” a course in travel literature and an intensive writing seminar. He has written features and film reviews for Texas Monthly, the Boston Globe, Third Coast magazine and The Austin Weekly.

The symposium is one of many events presented by Schreiner’s Center for Innovative Learning, and is free and open to the public. For more information, e-mail Martha York, the center’s director, at mlyork@schreiner.edu.
