Book signing and Texas Music Coffeehouse at Schreiner University October 3

KERRVILLE, Texas — Schreiner University and the Texas Heritage Music Foundation
offer two exciting events in October. Carolyn Wonderland, Texas Music Coffeehouse’s featured artist, will be the special guest at a book signing for Kathleen Hudson’s newest book, “Women in Texas Music: Stories and Songs.” Wonderland and her music are highlighted in a chapter of Hudson’s book.

Hudson says, “When I was conducting interviews for this oral history on women in Texas music, I knew that I wanted to talk with this vibrant woman I’d heard late at night at the Saxon Pub in Austin,
Carolyn Wonderland. She plays lead guitar, writes songs, makes stands as an activist and bows humbly at the end of each set. I am thrilled to have her as a guest performer at this book signing!” The book signing will take place at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the Schreiner campus.

The Coffeehouse takes place from 7-9 p.m. in the Lion’s Den (formerly the Corner Pocket) in the Cailloux Campus Activity Center from. Open mike is at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Wonderland will perform from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. An eclectic and innovative performer, Wonderland is a triple threat with diverse songwriting, soulful vocals and guitar artistry. Her songs have been featured on NBC’s “Homicide” and Fox’s “Time of Your Life.”

Both events are free and open to the public. Sponsors for the fall 2007 Coffeehouse series are Texas Heritage Music Foundation, Center for Innovative Learning, Schreiner Studies Activities, Chi Phi Fraternity, The Muse, Sigma Tau Delta and REV-FM Radio. For more information, contact Dr. Kathleen Hudson at 830-792-7409.
