Alumni baseball game honors first coach
The Schreiner University alumni baseball game held January 26 had a record turnout this year, both for the game and to honor Dr. Robert (Bob) Henry, Schreiner’s first baseball coach. Henry coached from 1982-1994 and was largely responsible not only for the sport at Schreiner, but also for getting the donations and volunteers that built the baseball field itself. Henry will be inducted into Schreiner’s Athletic Hall of Honor during this year’s Recall, Schreiner’s homecoming, April 11-13.
“It was a great turnout,” said current Mountaineer baseball coach Joe Castillo, who played under Henry. “It was a wonderful day filled with excitement, and it was great to see alumni from the first team to last year’s seniors make the trip and participate in the game.”
More than 40 alumni showed up for the game and to honor Henry.
