Schreiner University Commencement to be May 10
On May 10, more than 130 students will graduate from Schreiner University. This will be the school’s 25th graduating class since 1984, when Schreiner first conferred four-year degrees. The commencement ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Edington Sports Center on the University campus.
Attorney Randall Lee Roberts, a former Schreiner student and chairman of Schreiner’s Board of Trustees, will deliver the commencement address. Since 1973, Roberts has been a member of the Potter Minton law firm in Tyler, Tex., and has taught a course in mass media law at the University of Texas in Tyler. He is an attorney mediator and a fellow of the Texas Bar Association, and in 1994 he was awarded the T.B. Butler Award as Tyler's Most Outstanding Citizen.
Also on May 10, Schreiner’s traditional Baccalaureate Ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Edington Center. The Reverend Robert Elder, a pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA) for 34 years, will give the baccalaureate address. Dr. Elder has served as Moderator of the Presbytery of the Cascades (Oregon), and as a member of the General Assembly Council of the Presbyterian Church. He is the author of "Restoring the Future" and his second book, “Worth the Wait,” will be out this summer.
