Schreiner
University has announced
that Eldon Sheffer will
serve as the university’s
new Director of
Church Relations Aug.
11. He replaces the Rev.
Frank Seaman, who retired in
May.
Sheffer is an ordained
ruling Elder at First
Presbyterian Church of
Kerrville. During the past
three years, he has served
at the Divide Chapel, a
ranch church affiliated with
his home church. Eldon has
been a Presbyterian
Commissioned Lay Pastor for
more than 10 years and was
called to serve as senior
pastor in two churches
during periods of
transition. “Preaching a
well-structured Biblical
sermon is certainly one of
my favorite things to do,”
he said. |

Sheffer has a chemical
engineering degree from the
University of Toledo and an
MBA from the University of
Chicago. He spent nearly 29
years in the oil industry,
followed by nine years of
management consulting.
Sheffer and his wife Barbara
moved to Kerrville from the
Houston area in 2005. “We
selected Kerrville because
of the beauty of the Hill
Country and the Kerrville
culture, including Schreiner
University,” Sheffer said.
The Sheffers recently
celebrated their 38th
wedding anniversary. They
have two adult sons, one in
New York City and one in
Houston.
Sheffer originally came to
Schreiner last year as an
adjunct instructor of
critical thinking. He said
he enjoys interactions with
the students and sees in
them great promise for the
future of our nation.
“I am looking forward to
associating with church
leaders in the Kerrville
area and beyond as a
representative of Schreiner
University,” Sheffer said.
