Schreiner group to discuss ‘A Confederacy of Dunces’

Schreiner University professor Dr. Jude Gallik will host a Monday Night Fiction discussion of John Kennedy Toole’s “A Confederacy of Dunces” at 7 p.m., Monday, March 10, in the Scarle Phillips Room of Logan Library on Schreiner campus.

Toole’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel was published posthumously, 11 years after the author’s suicide. The book’s protagonist, Ignatius J. Reilly, who lives with his widowed mother, is obsessed with the absurdity and bad taste of pop culture. Many critics and readers think “A Confederacy of Dunces” is one of the most accurate fictional pictures of New Orleans.
