San Antonio professor to
speak at Schreiner University Crate Lecture
The Schreiner University spring
Harry Crate Lecture is scheduled for March 3 at 7 p.m. in
the ballroom of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center
on the University campus. Dr. Adam Urbach, assistant
professor of chemistry at Trinity University in San Antonio, will
speak on “Molecular Recognition of Peptides by Synthetic Receptors.”
He also will talk
about pursuing an academic career at university that concentrates on
undergraduate education. |

“My research program aims to understand
how molecules, such as drugs or hormones, are able to identify a single
protein among tens of thousands of possibilities,” Urbach said. “This
fidelity is crucial to the function of molecules in living systems. A better
understanding of these processes will enable us to design new
pharmaceuticals and medical diagnostics.”
The Crate lectures are free and open to the public. For more
information, contact Dr. Bob Holloway, associate professor of chemistry at
Schreiner, (830) 792-7250 or
