Schreiner University and Texas Heritage Music Foundation
kick off spring Coffeehouse series Feb. 6 |
|

KERRVILLE, Texas –
Texas Heritage Music Foundation and Schreiner University’s
Center for Innovative Learning will begin the spring
Coffeehouse
series Feb. 6 with performances by popular Austin-based and local
performers. |

In honor of the 33rd anniversary of Black History Month and the 83rd
anniversary of Black History Week, artists
LZ Love and Lightning Red will be
featured at the first spring Coffeehouse on February 6. Singer songwriter
Love began her career as a backup vocalist, working with such notables as
Luther Vandross, James Brown and George Benson. Red is a master of both
acoustic and slide guitar and exhibits “matchless acoustic style,” according
to the Austin Chronicle. Popular Kerrville performer Clifton Fifer will be a
special guest. Fifer is known for his programs about black cowboys, Buffalo
Soldiers and Native Americans. Nell M. Nash will be performing representing
the Doyle Community Center. |

The Coffeehouse takes place from 7-9 p.m. in the Lion’s Den of the
Schreiner Cailloux Campus Activity Center. Open mike is at 7 p.m. and 8:30
p.m. All Texas Music Coffeehouse events are free and open to the public.
Sponsors for the spring 2008 Coffeehouse series are Texas Heritage Music
Foundation, Center for Innovative Learning, Schreiner Student Activities,
Chi Phi Fraternity, The Muse, Sigma Tau Delta and Revolution FM 94.3 KRVL.
