The water temperature was 42 degrees, and the event, sponsored
annually by Mo-Ranch, set a new record, raising more than $20,000 –
the most money was raised in the 15-year history of the event.

to benefit a local charity. This year, the beneficiary is
Schreiner’s
Hill Country College Fund, which provides need-based
tuition grants to Schreiner students from Kerr, Gillespie, Bandera,
Kendall, Kimble Edwards and Real counties.
Fred Gamble,
Schreiner University’s vice president for administration and
finance, was the event’s top fundraiser, with more than $6,000.
Overall, the event raised more than $15,000, a Polar Bear record.
Among others on the official Schreiner Polar Bear Team were Arthur
Bell, Mike Lowe, Paul Camfield, Ron Macosko, Sarah Dixon, Andrew
Miller, Paco Espinoza, Kiley Miller, Kamron Farhoudi, Pat Murray,
Jose Flores, Rick Phipps, Fred Gamble, Greg Shrader, Charles Gray,
