The prestigious Peabody award is administered by
Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication
at The University of Georgia. Peabodys, which may
vary in number from year to year, are chosen by a
board of 16 critics, arts and culture experts, and
executives from broadcast and cable television. The
awards were established in 1940 and are the oldest
award honoring electronic media—now including the
Internet.
THMF is a nonprofit founded in 1987 by Dr. Hudson and
moved to a permanent home on the Schreiner campus in
2004. It sponsors several annual events, including
Texas Living History Weekend and
Texas Music Coffeehouse on the Schreiner campus.
