KERRVILLE, Texas –
Texas Heritage Music Foundation and Schreiner University’s
Center for Innovative Learning will host events in honor of National
Poetry Month and A Season of Peace on April 2 and 3.
Austin musicians
Barbara Kooyman and
Richard Bowden will give
tribute to A Season of Peace with a lunch concert on April
2 from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. in the Floyd & Kathleen
Cailloux Campus Activity Center theater on the Schreiner campus. The
concert is free and open to the public.
The final
Texas Music Coffeehouse of the spring will feature
Thom The World Poet on April
2. Thom is an Australian-born, Austin-based improvising poet. He
is co-founder of the
Austin International Poetry Festival, and has toured the world
with his poetry and music, most notably on the Four Continents Slam
Tour. He is a member of Wordjazz Ensemble and has 152 books of
poetry available, 16 CDs and many tapes of improvised poetry and
music. The evening’s theme is “The Spoken Word Celebrating a Season
of Peace.” Activities will culminate in a slam poetry contest with
prizes for the winners.
Coffeehouse events take place from 7-9 p.m. in the Lion’s Den
in the CACC on the Schreiner campus. Open mike is at 7 p.m. and 8:30
p.m. All coffeehouse events are free and open to the public.

Thom The World Poet will present a writing workshop on April 3
from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Ventana Al Cielo Studio at 911
