In business, McCoy has been actively involved with the
business from the age of 17. Lumber yard worker, truck driver, floor sales,
assistant store manager, store manager, merchandise manager, Vice President,
Co-President and presently CEO and Chairman of the Board are all positions
he has held during the past 35 years. This privately held company currently
operates 87
McCoy's Building Supply locations in five
states, with annual sales exceeding $550 million. He is also a partner in
McCoy Remme Ranches, a cow-calf operation with land holdings in West Texas.
Originally from Galveston where he graduated from Ball High School in 1972,
McCoy earned a business degree from Texas Tech University in 1975. He serves
on the board of the Lumberman's Association of Texas and Intimate Life
Ministries, both headquartered in Austin. Mr. McCoy also serves on the Board
of
The Museum of Western Art located in
Kerrville. His personal interests include reading, traveling, swimming,
walking and horseback riding.
The
Edward Patton Business Ethics Lectures
augments students' studies of business ethics with focused lectures on
recognizing unethical business activities, responsibilities and obligations
when confronted with business dilemmas, approaches to ethical decision
making, social responsibilities versus individual rights, and the ethicism
movement in businesses.
The program enables students to explore ethics through lectures from
visiting professionals who have experienced business dilemmas.
