Start reading now for Monday Night Fiction

Schreiner University’s Monday Night Fiction discussion series opens its 2008-2009 year on September 15. The Center for Innovative Learning, which sponsors the series, recently announced the book list, to give potential participants a chance to add the titles to their summer reading.

The Monday Night Fiction schedule will be:

• “Out Stealing Horses” by Per Petterson, September 15
• “The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency” by Alexander McCall Smith, October 20
• “The Left Hand of Darkness” by Ursula K. LeGuin, November 17
• “Bel Canto” by Ann Patchett, February 9, 2009
• “Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant” by Anne Tyler, March 9, 2009
• “The Eyre Affair” by Jasper Fforde, April 6, 2009

Monday Night Fiction’s format follows that of a European literary salon, with good books, good company and good conversation. All MNF meetings are at 7 p.m. in the Scarle Philips Room in the William Logan Library on the Schreiner campus.
