visited
the
Schreiner
University
campus
the
day
after
Election
Day
to
discuss
issues
and
legislation
concerning
higher
education
with
Schreiner
president
Dr.
Tim
Summerlin.
Smith
also
spoke
with
Schreiner
students
and
answered
questions
about
matters
facing
the
committees
on
which
he
serves—Judiciary,
Homeland
Security,
and
Science
and
Technology
committees,
as
well
as
the
Ethics
Task
Force. |

had
a
lively
session
with
about
40
of
our
students
on
topics
such
as
higher
education
funding,
science
education
and
the
intricacies
of
Congressional
committee
work,”
Summerlin
said
The
students
came
from
two
political
science
classes,
a
communication
class,
Schreiner’s
Moot
Court
and
Ethics
Match
teams,
Honors
students,
Student
Senate
officers,
business
students
and
Sumner’s
Scholars.
“We
greatly
appreciated
Congressman
Lamar
Smith’s
visit
to
the
campus
the
day
after
his
reelection,”
Summerlin
said.
“He
and
I
had
the
opportunity
to
discuss
critical
issues
facing
higher
education
nationally.
And
it
is
always
informative
for
our
students
to
be
able
to
interact
personally
with
our
elected
representatives
in
Washington,
DC,
and
Congressman
Smith
made
excellent
use
of
his
visit
to
Schreiner.”
